High school girls soccer in Illinois has become a hotbed for college recruiters. In what may be its strongest overall field since the girls portion started, the PepsiCo Showdown will showcase 100s of players set to play in college this fall, along with 100s of future college prospects at the same site on back-to-back Saturdays this month. It’s that time of the year in Chicago when high school and college soccer coaches from all over Illinois and the Midwest are looking to see who is ranked where in the popular PepsiCo Showdown, which kicks off its 16th year in 2018. Where will your favorite player and team be seeded?
Feature stories showcasing the top boys and girls players in each combine category from the PepsiCo Showdown College Showcase will run through the end of April. The complete combine results sheet will be released in mid April prior to the kickoff of the 2018 outdoor recruiting season.
Willowbrook sophomore Erinn Bell: “It was fun playing as a freshman on the varsity level last season. You get to compete against better and more experienced players, and then you realize how far you’ve come since you first started playing on varsity.
